This month marks fifteen years since Kathie began oil painting. It all started a little later in life for her with a workshop at the John C. Campbell Folk School, an arts and crafts destination in the mountains of western North Carolina.
It was Kathie's first time painting in oils AND her first time painting en plein air. Her best teacher, she would say, is plein air... the act of painting outdoors as the sun moves, the light changes and there is no time to waste.
While Kathie travels to paint in other beautiful locations, she still calls those same mountains her home, but on the Tennessee side. We hope you enjoy viewing these snapshots of her work... she sure enjoyed painting them!
