This month marks fifteen years since Kathie began oil painting. It all
started a little later in life for her with a workshop at the John C.
Campbell Folk School , an arts and crafts
destination in the mountains of western North Carolina.
It was Kathie's first time painting in oils AND her first time painting
en plein air. Her best teacher, she would say, is plein air... the act
of painting outdoors as the sun moves, the light changes and there is
no time to waste.
While Kathie travels to paint in other beautiful locations, she still
calls those same mountains her home, but on the Tennessee side. We hope
you enjoy viewing these snapshots of her work... she sure enjoyed
painting them!

Home Week with Kathie, 2024 was an absolute smash! This new style of
workshop combined 1) several demos from Kathie, 2) loads of free time
to paint with her nearby, 3) every meal provided PLUS lodging, 4)
painting in the most visited national park in our country and 5) all
the perks of being an Odom for a week! Just look at those faces... it
may have rained a bit, but not on their parade!
Will Kathie do it again in her mountain home?? Stay tuned to find out!
