MeMama brought eight children into this world in the early 1900's, lived through the depression, wrung countless chicken necks, milked cows in the dead of winter and sewed dresses out of flour sacks. She was one of many dedicated wives and mothers who lived in "the country".
Once Kathie was handed a black and white photo of MeMama, her husband's grandmother whom she knew for only a few years, she knew that she wanted to attempt to freeze-frame her life into an oil painting. Mother will travel to Escondido, California, for the OPA exhibition at the California Center of the Arts. MeMama would not have believed it.
